Chapter 27: Top WordPress Finance Themes

Posted on December 17, 2024 | Updated on December 17, 2024

Financial services companies have a chance to make a solid first impression on website visitors. A poorly designed website can send the message that the client’s money might not be secure with your institution. On the other hand, using stellar finance themes for WordPress sites can level up your game and attract new customers.

Although the economy has struggled in recent years, 2023 and 2024 have been good years for the banking industry. Banks brought in about $7 trillion in revenue with a net profit of $1.1 trillion. In addition, many banks have 77.2% liquidity, an improvement from 2022.

Financial Services and Banking Institutions Should Focus on These WordPress Theme Elements

With so many themes to choose from and the possibility of investing in a custom solution, bank leadership has a hard time deciding on which option might be the best choice. If you offer very specific services, such as consulting or retirement planning, you may run on a small budget and need something out-of-the-box you can use.

Some of the things you’ll want to ensure any theme you select has include:

  • Serious color palette – avoid trendy or fun options
  • Traditional navigational structure
  • About page
  • Secure theme that gets updated frequently
  • Compatibility with payment system plugins
  • Integrates well with WooCommerce

Users will entrust their money to you so you want to be sure your site includes typical elements such as trust factors, contact information, testimonials and services pages. How you showcase what your customers say about you will either attract or repel new customers to your finance themed site.

How We Narrowed the Choices to the Top 5 Finance Themes

With each theme series we look at, we use a set of criteria to ensure we’re selecting the best possible options for our readers. While five themes barely scratches the surface of the available finance themes for WordPress, it offers a good starting point that most banking startups and financial services companies can take the run with.

We run the following checks as we narrow down options:

  • How well the theme fits the industry
  • Pleasing aesthetics
  • Updated recently
  • Excellent reviews if available
  • Many free features

Some of our selections do have add-ons and premium versions. However, the free version must be highly functional for us to include it. Once we’ve thrown out anything that doesn’t meet the basic criteria, we usually have a list of around two or three dozen options.

We then start digging into things such as how fast the theme loads, the overall aesthetics and basic design structure. After a lot of reflection, we eventually get to five options for our readers. The most successful websites tend to have things in common, such as mobile responsiveness and a nav bar near the top of the page.

Our Top Choices for WordPress Finance Themes

Without further ado, here are our top choices. One is a clear winner that stands out from the rest.

Addendum

Addendum has a familiar layout you see on a lot of financial institution websites. We like how the services are broken down on the landing page with icons and simple subheadings to draw attention to the area of the site the user most needs in that moment.

The reviews indicate the product comes with excellent support and the template is easy to use. Some of the features include an integrated search feature, social media buttons to engage users, handy sidebar widgets and sample content to help you quickly build out your site. The theme costs $70 for a commercial license, but often goes on sale.

eConsulting Agency

eConsulting Agency WordPress theme is a child theme of Bizberg. We loved the simplicity and layout of this child theme. You can also check out other child themes that work with Bizberg to see if any of those better meet your needs.

This child theme features three header layouts, a sticky menu, two slides and customizations for the free version. If you upgrade to Pro for $59.99, you’ll gain access to other elements such as a top bar, ability to change copyright text, footer background image and full theme options for complete customization.

Module Bank

We debated a bit about including the Module Bank theme. It doesn’t have a lot of the bells and whistles of some of the other themes out there. Yet, it is quite serious looking and perfect for a financial institution. Since most banks use blue, yellow and red in their themes, something a bit more understated could draw attention. You can always add pops of color through images or call to action (CTA) buttons.

The options on this theme are limited so it is probably best suited for someone experienced at coding and tweaking something to customize it to their liking. However, it is fully free.

Finance Consulting

Another child theme in our lineup is Finance Consulting, which offers a minimalistic aesthetic perfect for financial services. For businesses that coach people or offer retirement planning, the theme has everything you need. You can also download Consulting WP for another option, since you’ll have to install it anyway to use the child theme. Then, to add functionality for services, install the Finance Consulting child theme.

For $39.99, upgrade to the Pro version and gain access to dynamic home page layouts, global template control, a library of pixel perfect patterns, pre-built page templates and shopping cart integration.

Our Top Choice: Mintify

Mintify wins the top slot for WordPress finance themes in this lineup of options. Although it has many of the same features as other WP themes, we thought the ability to choose dark mode or a lighter designer gave users enough flexibility to nudge other contenders out of the running.

Features of the theme include:

  • One-click light or dark mode
  • Tested with Google’s Lighthouse for accessibility
  • Loads assets separately for speed
  • Customize colors, fonts and spacing
  • Mobile responsive

Mintify is a child theme of Blockify. Some of the other child themes you might want to check out include:

  • Creatify
  • Brandify
  • Saasify

Most of what you need is found in the free versions, but going Pro gives you access to additional child themes, blocks and features. You’ll also gain access to a library of assets.
