Chapter 23: Top Event Planner Website Themes for WordPress

Posted on June 15, 2024 | Updated on July 24, 2024

Finding the perfect design for your events or event planning business requires a bit of self-reflection. You must first figure out what features are most helpful to your site visitors. What is the overriding message of your site? The top event themes for a wedding plan vary from a trade show organizer.

Because WordPress is an open source platform, you’ll find free versions of event themes alongside paid options. Because there are so many industries and themes that might work for event planning, we decided to dig into what’s out there and narrow the options down. Having a list of a handful of choices can speed up the design process and get your site up faster than if you have to start from scratch with decisions.

What to Look for in Event Themes for WordPress

Statista predicts the event industry will grow to $2 trillion by 2028. Many niche areas fall into the category of an event. Some of the things you might want an event theme for are:

  • Wedding planning business
  • Bride and groom sharing their event with the world
  • Trade shows and conferences
  • Promoter for various events
  • Local craft fairs and festivals
  • Company gatherings
  • Family reunions

You get the idea. The reasons for needing an event theme can be varied, depending on the occasion. For the purposes of selecting event themes, we assumed someone is running a business where they plan events for others. If you are a bride wanting an event website, you may want to look at our list of wedding themes.

Some of the key features an event planner might need on an event site include:

  • Planner’s contact info
  • Date, time and location
  • Registration or R.S.V.P. form
  • Photo gallery
  • History of event page

The type of event will also determine additional features. If you’re charging for booths or registration, you may need a payment gateway to collect fees. You’d want a theme compatible with WooCommerce.

Event Planners, Here Are Our Favorites

We took the time to browse through dozens of themes that might work for an event or professional planner. After careful consideration, we narrowed the choices down to four favorites and a clear winner.

Some of the rules we applied to the themes we selected were:

  • Must have been updated in the last six months
  • Could upscale easily
  • Compatibility with WooCommerce
  • Minimalistic design to create a streamlined look focused on the event
  • Contact form or page
  • Paid version under $100

Many of the features we recommend for an event theme are similar to what we’d suggest for any type of website. Excellent user experience (UX) has critical components at its core. These themes meet those needs and work as well for events as business sites.

1. EventR

EventR checks a lot of the boxes we’d want in event themes. It has a simple design with the focus on a large hero image. The countdown clock above the fold highlights when the conference begins. Users can click on any of the navigation tabs to learn more about speakers, the venue or registration.

Eventr is a simple, one-page theme that runs $44 for a regular license, including upgrades and six months of support. Putting together an event site is intuitive thanks to features such as the Visual Composing, Revolution Slider and various plugins for forms and extras.

2. Kortez Event

Kortez Themes is an excellent choice for an upcoming concert or performance event. The hero image can be a video, showcasing the talent or a static image. The headline pops against the dark background. As you customize, you may need to adjust the colors for contrast, but that’s easily done in the theme’s customize panel.

The call to action (CTA) button pops with a brighter color that is reflected in some of the icons and text. The user’s eye is immediately drawn to the CTA.

The free theme comes with a single layout and limited options. Upgrade to Pro for $29.99 per year or $69.99 for life. You’ll gain:

  • Header contact details
  • Header social icons
  • Image banner/slider
  • Custom link buttons
  • Parallax scrolling
  • More typography options
  • Additional layouts, colors and templates

The upgrade also gives you more demos for a variety of industries, including construction, medical and travel.

3. EventChamp – Multiple Event & Conference

EventChamp – Multiple Event & Conference is an interesting option for those planning multiple themes or listing upcoming events for a town or organization. We particularly like the sortable tables in the multiple events version 2 of the theme. The theme comes with many templates so designers can pick and choose which might work best for them.

The best features of this theme include:

  • Pre-built pages and demos
  • One-click installation
  • Theme customizer for colors, fonts and layout
  • Event management and listing system

The thing we liked best about this particular theme was the search features for events. Users can easily locate what they’re looking for. The theme runs $79 for a single license.

4. Event

Event is a theme from Themefreesia focused on offering a solution for a single event. While we love the grayscale look of the design pictured above, you can use any image you’d like and add more color, make it brighter or keep it grayscale.

The partially transparent layer on top of the image gives a nice contrast for the text to pop. The CTAs are located inside the shaded area. The WordPress theme offers a free version. For $79 for a business license, you gain features such as:

  • Social media integration
  • WooCommerce compatibility
  • Additional color options
  • Multiple layouts
  • Cross Browser Compatibility with Chrome, Safari, Opera, Firefox and Microsoft

The theme is mobile-ready and SEO friendly.

Our Winner: Classic Events

We chose this user-friendly WordPress event theme because we loved the bright pops of color, geometric design and vivid CTA buttons. It is compatible with most popular plugins, including:

  • Contact Form 7
  • WooCommerce
  • Yoast SEO

Although the current theme looks like a wedding planner’s dream, you can swap out the colors and images for any event type. We like the spot for testimonials just under the fold to showcase why a person should hire the event planner.

Upgrade to Premium for $49 or get all Classic Templates themes for $99. When you upgrade, you’ll gain these features:

  • Customizable templates
  • Additional layouts
  • Speaker profiles
  • Agenda page
  • Social media integration
  • Online ticketing

An upgrade brings more customization options for a small fee. We love the simple lines but complex geometrics of this design.

Impress New Clients with Event Themes

Finding a theme that showcases your personality to potential clients while remaining professional takes time. Swap out colors, images and details until the out-of-the-box solution looks customized. With a little time and tweaking, you’ll have an impressive site that speaks for itself and shows just what you can do as an event planner.
