Each month, Designerly finds an excellent website design and shares the details of why we’ve awarded them with the coveted Designerly Design Award. The award is given based on excellence in various areas. This month, we decided to look at consulting firms and branch out into countries such as Canada, Germany, France, Chile and Mexico. After careful consideration, we chose Enki Consultores as our winner this month.
The theme was consulting firms and then we narrowed the selection further to firms that look at the environmental impact of development and serve real estate developers and businesses in analysis. While there were many worthy companies, Enki Consultores’ design stood out.
With growing concerns over how human actions impact the climate, this seemed like a timely industry to cover. The Pew Research Center estimates 37% of Americans feel addressing climate change should be a top government priority. Industries that work to preserve local ecosystems are a valuable part of the world’s future.

The first thing we noticed about Enki Consultores’ design were the bold colors and vivid images in the hero header. The Andes Mountains rise in the background, showing why the company is committed to helping other businesses preserve nature’s beauty.
The consulting firm has been in business since 2012. Their specialization is supporting wind and solar projects. They dig into research during the preconstruction phase of projects. They also work on wind plants in Chile and other countries. Some of the services they provide include:
- Soil Analysis
- Logistical Reports
- Analysis of land stability
Their clients include companies such as Melon, Chilquinta Energio and MYMA. The compass logo is an interesting way to identify their far-reaching work that potentially impacts people from different countries.
Why We Chose Enki Consultores as Our Winner
The hero image is what caught our attention as we looked at Enki Consultores. We considered another firm in Mexico City, but Enki Consultores offered translation to other languages, making the user experience (UX) stellar and helping them win the award.
Intuitive Navigation
The design ticks the boxes for simple and user-friendly website navigation. The navigation bar has seven options. As you hover over each, the page underlines and highlights the text, so you never lose your place. One option reads “Start,” which serves as their home page.
Page Speed
UX designers have long known that site visitors are impatient. They rarely stick around for a website that doesn’t load quickly. Enki Consultores’ pages load at lightning speed on both desktop and mobile with little lag time.
Mobile Responsiveness
The site functions perfectly on a mobile device. The menu shrinks to a hamburger icon and all the text and images resize neatly for a small screen. The mobile version of the site works well for users who might not have access to a desktop browser. Around 70% of website traffic comes from phones and tablets, so ensuring your site is mobile friendly is a must.
Color Palette
The website’s colors mesh perfectly with an environmental services company. They tap into brown and green with white for some neutral areas. The logo ties back into the same color scheme. Even the hero photos embrace the same hues.
Animations
Animated elements add a lot of interest to an otherwise static website. The heading on the home page slides into place neatly, drawing user attention and keeping the person moving through the user’s journey.
Scrolling
Users can either scroll down manually or click anywhere on the lower part of the screen and the site will scroll down to another section. The instant scrolling and movement saves time and is quite interesting as a design element. While it may not appeal to everyone, we thought it functioned well.
Icons
The site uses clear icons that show the various services they offer. Even the Spanish version of the site would be simple for another language speaker to decipher thanks to the images showcasing what the service is. People can absorb information quickly by looking at the images without reading the text.
Trust Factors
Enki Consultores also offers some strong trust factors on the page to ensure users they can trust the company with their projects. Note the dedicated contact tab where users can fill out a form and send it to the company. In the footer, you’ll find the company’s email, address and phone number. They also include a map so local clients can find their offices easily.
The addition of staff photos, names and roles adds another element of trustworthiness. Potential customers can see they’ll be working with a real person and understand their specialization.
Logo
The genius of Enki Consultores’ logo speaks for itself. Not only does it mesh perfectly with the color scheme, but it shows all the analysis they put into their land surveys and reports. In nature, you’ll find geometric shapes, such as squares and circles. The website design reflects those same patterns with the circular logo and square photos.
Contact Form
They kept their contact form short and to the point, which creates a better user experience. Those accessing the site from their mobile devices will appreciate the simplicity of filling in a few fields and submitting.
Portfolio
The company lets their past experience speak for itself. They have a portfolio section titled “Projects” or “Proyectos.” Using a grid layout, they list some recent projects along with links to some of their analysis and work. The page showcases just what they’re capable of and serves as marketing for their business.
What We Would Do Different
The overall design serves Enki Consultores’ target audience well. We would keep most of the design as is. For the English translation, we would change the word “Start” to “Home” for a clearer understanding of where the user might go when they click on the words.
We enjoyed branching out and covering land analysis as an industry this month. While the pool of potential sites was smaller, we’re still impressed with the finished result.
